Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, mobile phone, tablet) when you visit them. They allow the website to recognise your device and retain certain information about your visit — for example, language preferences, products added to the cart, or the fact that you are logged in.
Cookies are widely used by most websites and cannot access other data on your device, transmit viruses, or read information from other cookies.
Based on their duration, cookies can be:
- Session cookies — temporary cookies that are automatically deleted when you close your browser;
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period of time or until manually deleted.
Based on their origin, cookies can be:
- First-party cookies — placed by the website you are visiting directly (https://www.rootfulnutrition.com);
- Third-party cookies — placed by third parties (for example, Google Analytics, Meta).

3. Essential cookies
Essential cookies (also referred to as "strictly necessary" cookies) are indispensable for the proper functioning of the website. Without them, it would not be possible to browse the site, use the shopping cart, or complete an order.
Examples of functions provided by essential cookies:
- Maintaining products in the shopping cart throughout the session;
- Customer account authentication and security;
- Operating the cookie consent mechanism;
- Fraud prevention and transaction security;
- Server load balancing.
4. Analytical cookies
Analytical cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website — which pages are most visited, how users navigate, and where they encounter difficulties. All collected data is aggregated and anonymised.
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect statistical information such as:
- Number of unique visitors and sessions;
- Pages visited and average session duration;
- Traffic sources (organic, direct, social media, advertisements);
- Shopping cart abandonment rate;
- Devices and browsers used.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR (user consent). Data collected through Google Analytics is transmitted to Google servers in the EU/EEA, in accordance with our privacy settings. For more information, please refer to the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies are used to display relevant advertisements based on your interests, both on our website and on third-party platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc.). They also allow us to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.
Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram)
We use Meta Pixel to:
- Track conversions from Facebook and Instagram Ads campaigns;
- Create custom audiences and lookalike audiences;
- Display relevant advertisements on Meta platforms.
More information: Meta Privacy Policy.
Google Ads (Conversion Tracking)
We use Google Ads Conversion Tracking to:
- Measure the effectiveness of Google Ads campaigns;
- Optimise bidding and advertising strategies;
- Display personalised advertisements across the Google Display Network and YouTube.
More information: Google Privacy Policy.
Klaviyo
We use Klaviyo for email marketing communications and to personalise the on-site experience. The __kla_id cookie enables:
- Identifying visitors who have interacted with our emails;
- Sending personalised emails (cart abandonment, product recommendations);
- Audience segmentation based on on-site behaviour.
More information: Klaviyo Privacy Policy.
Legal basis for all marketing cookies: Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR (user consent).
6. Functional cookies
Functional cookies allow the website to remember the choices you make (such as your preferred language, region, or display mode) and provide enhanced, personalised features.
Examples of functions provided:
- Remembering the selected language and currency;
- Saving consent preferences from the cookie banner;
- Managing checkout features (Shopify Pay / Shop Pay);
- Personalising the display based on your previous preferences.
Although functional cookies are not strictly essential for the basic operation of the website, they significantly enhance the browsing experience. We recommend keeping them enabled.
7. Consent
In accordance with Regulamentul (UE) 2016/679 (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 — General Data Protection Regulation), Directiva 2002/58/CE (ePrivacy) (Directive 2002/58/EC — ePrivacy Directive), and Legea nr. 506/2004 (Romanian Law No. 506/2004), we apply an opt-in consent model for all cookies that are not strictly essential.
How does the cookie banner work?
On your first visit to our website, you will see a consent banner offering the following options:
- Accept all cookies — activates all cookie categories (analytical, marketing, functional);
- Customise preferences — allows you to individually choose which categories to enable;
- Reject non-essential cookies — only strictly essential cookies are activated.
- Freely given — you are not required to accept non-essential cookies in order to use the website;
- Specific — you may choose separately for each cookie category;
- Informed — this document provides you with all the necessary information;
- Unambiguous — consent is expressed through a clear action (click).
Withdrawing consent
You may withdraw or modify your consent at any time by:
- Accessing the cookie settings in the footer of our website — the "Cookie Preferences" section;
- Deleting cookies directly from your browser settings (see Section 8 below);
- Contacting us at support@rootfulnutrition.com.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent given prior to its withdrawal.

9. Similar technologies
In addition to cookies, we may also use other tracking technologies, to which the same consent rules apply:
Tracking Pixels
Pixels are transparent, minimal-sized images (1x1 pixel) embedded in web pages or emails. They allow us to verify whether a page has been visited or an email has been opened. We use pixels from Meta (Facebook Pixel) and Google Ads.
Web Beacons
Similar to tracking pixels, web beacons are code fragments that collect information about user interaction with content. They are primarily used in email marketing campaigns (through Klaviyo) to measure open and click-through rates.
Local Storage and Session Storage
These are browser storage mechanisms similar to cookies but with a larger capacity. We use them to temporarily store data such as display preferences or shopping cart state. Unlike cookies, data in Local Storage is not automatically transmitted to the server with each request.
JavaScript Tags
JavaScript code fragments (such as Google Tag Manager) are used to load and manage analytics and marketing scripts. These tags operate based on your consent preferences — if you have not accepted a cookie category, the corresponding tags will not be activated.
10. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices, the technologies we use, or applicable legal requirements.
Any significant changes will be communicated through:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document;
- Displaying a banner or notification on the website, where appropriate;
- Requesting renewed consent, if the changes affect cookie categories or processing purposes.
We recommend that you review this page periodically to stay informed of any changes.
